New artwork uploaded.... We had a trip to Great Falls Park in Virginia in September, when the water level was very low. The falls were amazing, and the low water allowed us to see more of the structure of the rocky cliffs. I think it would be terrifying when the water is high! The painting is done on a reclaimed wooden...
New artwork uploaded.... This friendly face of Cumberland belongs to a man who has been handing out smiles and livestock feed at Southern States for over forty years. I don't believe they could run the store without him!...
New artwork uploaded.... Peonies are and almost magical flower, so huge and showy. This one seemed the perfect accent for a portrait of a young girl. The deep green background leaves all the focus on the girl and flower, and the color continues around the edge of the gallery-stretched canvas. ...
New artwork uploaded.... This piece deviates substantially from the tight details I usually paint, but the soft focus in the background helps to bring attention to the lovely summer flowers in a meadow near my home. I included goldenrod, chicory, bee balm, Queen Anne's Lace, trefoil, and crown vetch. It is painted on a...
New artwork uploaded.... Painted from a photo taken in Minnesota in November, this quiet sunset reflected beautifully in the river. It is painted on a reclaimed wooden cabinet panel, so the painting and gold 'frame' are all one piece, 12 x 12 inches. There are minor imperfections in the wood....

New artwork uploaded.... This tribute portrait reflects the relaxed life-and-good-times of a family friend who passed away recently. It is, after all, always five o'clock somewhere!...
Painting and drawing, to me, are almost as necessary as breathing. It is a great reward to see the looks on peoples faces when they see a painting that has personal meaning to them; it creates a connection between me and the rest of humanity that I could not experience in any other way. I find beauty in scenes of everyday rural life and love sharing the way I see the world.
