Born and raised in Chicago, I have been playing around with art all
my life. My interest in art and films eventually resulted in an animation
career in Los Angeles where I drew special effects for more than 20
years. Due to a circuitous set of circumstances, I ended up in Maryland.
I had been a city dweller most of my life, so my artwork is probably
expressing some sort of culture shock. In an urban environment, nature is found here and there, but the Cumberland area is all but
swallowed up by the natural world. Even when my work is abstract, the
influence of the organic and biological is clearly evident.
My process (usually melting plastic onto wireframe) can best be
described as the "mad scientist" school of art. Experimentation and
experience go hand in hand to create my little monsters.
